Alder Hey Education- Wards
Ward teachers support patients during their stay in hospital so that, where medically feasible, learning and academic progress can continue and prevent children from falling behind their peers.
Work is carefully planned and tailored to individual need according to national curriculum guidelines whenever possible.
Teachers aim to maintain continuity with children’s own school work, focusing on english, maths, and their special interest subjects.
ICT
Information and Communication Technology is an important component of teaching and learning on the wards and enables teachers to personalise and extend learning opportunities, as well as supporting pupils to maintain contact with their home schools through their websites and virtual learning platforms.
External Examinations
Arrangements can be made to enable patients to take part in external examinations (GCSE) within the hospital setting.
